Governor Appoints Farr to Head Bureau of Fire Services
Ron Farr, the long time secretary of the Michigan Fire Inspectors Society, has been appointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm as the new State Fire Marshal. The post was vacated last year by Representative Andrew Newman as his successful bid for the Michigan House of Representatives.
Farr will head up the department working with the current Deputy Director Tony Sanfillippo who served as the Acting Fire Marshal during the vacancy. Farr will retire as Fire Chief from the Kalamazoo Township. He has served Kalamazoo Township for 37 years and has included the last six years as Fire Chief.
Farr is expected to assume the new duties in Lansing beginning in Mid-May. Congratulations to Ron and we look forward to working with him in his new role!

Congratulations! I read about your promotion in a Christmas card from friends in Plainwell. Hope things are going well. We are considering retiring in Michigan – hard to believe, but we acutally miss the change of seasons after being in New Mexico for so long. Let’s get in touch. Marilee
