The Michigan Bureau of Fire Services (BFS) and the Office of the State Fire Marshal will be in its new office location at 3101 Technology Blvd., Suite H, Lansing, MI 48910, effective March 11, 2013. This is in the approximate vicinity of US 127 and Jolly Road. Those traveling to the new BFS office location can take the Jolly Road exit off US 127 and travel north on Collins Road. The offices are located in the office park on the west side of Collins Road.

The Bureau of Fire Services mailing address, phones, and staff e-mail addresses stay the same. The BFS mailing address will remain the same at: P.O. Box 30700, Lansing, MI 48909. The BFS main telephone line will remain the same at 517-241-8847 All staff phone numbers and e-mail addresses will remain the same. New facsimile (FAX) numbers are: 517-332-1427 (Fire Services); or 517-332-1428 (Storage Tanks).

Certified Inspector Renewal

New Certificates to be Mailed This Month

For those inspectors who have their state certification you will notice that they expire at the end of December 2012.  Please remember that those inspectors with the necessary continuing education credits will auto-renew.  This means your certificate will be dropped in the mail and sent to the address you have on file without you sending in a new application or fee.

If you have moved and not updated your mailing address please email your address to hookerb@michigan.gov.

If you are short Continuing Education credits a credit statement will be mailed to you.  This statement should be verified for accuracy.  Inspectors who did not complete the necessary continuing education will have a six month grace period to gain the necessary continuing education credits.

Remember it is your responsibility to track your continuing education credits.   If you have questions please feel free to email on of your board members
