<p>Lee Jay Kueppers will present this one day course on fire work safety aimed at aiding fire departments before the firework season.  The seminar will provide students with the knowledge and skills to inspect firework displays in their community assuring compliance with state and federal laws that impact the fire service and the community.</p>
<p>The program <span id="more-584"></span>costs $70.00 per person includes lunch and course materials.  The program begins at 9:00 am and will be held at the Delta College Planetarium in Bay City.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>The Michigan State Police, in partnership with the MDCH, EMS &amp; Trauma Systems, and the DLEG, Bureau of Fire Services, invite your participation in a one-day event bringing members of the emergency services community from across Michigan together. The “Emergency Services Day” of training will feature sessions designed to address issues commonly faced by EMS, fire, and law enforcement personnel.</p>
<p>Field personnel and <span id="more-529"></span>responders, as well as emergency services educators and administrators will benefit from this training. EMS CE credits for all licensure levels will be offered for each session.  The following topics will be covered:</p>
<ul>
<li>EMS/Fire/Law Enforcement Operations-This course will identify the differences and similarities between agencies and how each group can more successfully interact with each other on-scene.</li>
<li>Submerged Vehicle Demonstration – Course will demonstrate a submerged vehicle in the MSP training tank and possible rescue techniques.</li>
<li>Meth Lab Safety – The course will discuss the signs of a meth lab, the potential hazards and how first responders can avoid injuries.</li>
<li>Drive Track Demonstration – A drive track instructor will discuss how to safely drive during an emergency response and the liabilities that attach to emergency driving.</li>
<li>Leadership Course &#8211; This course will provide a basic format for leadership skills for emergency services personnel.</li>
<li>Search and Rescue Demonstration – A canine unit will discuss and demonstrate the proper procedures to conduct a search and rescue mission. This discussion will also review how the canine unit can be of assistance to Emergency Services personnel.</li>
</ul>

<p>The next Meeting for the Southeastern Michigan Fire Inspector Society (SEMFI) is Friday December 11, 2009 at Glen Oaks in Farmington Hills Michigan.</p>
<p>The program is going to feature Karla Klas with the University of Michigan Trauma Burn, an update from the State Fire Marshal as well as awarding of Fire Inspector of the year by the three organizations.</p>
<p>Cost is <span id="more-507"></span>$20.00 per person and must be paid at the door.  To RSVP your spot please contact Claudette Monroe at cmonroe@brightonareafire.com or by phone at (810) 229-6640.</p>
<p>Remember that if you are a member of Macomb, Metropolitan Detroit, or Oakland County Fire Inspectors you are a member of SEMFI.</p>
<p>Non-members are encourage to attend and bring in the holiday season and see what this organization is about.</p>

Fields would like you all come as their guests as part of the training day.</p>
