2009 Proposed Legislation

  • HB 4026 of 2009, (Rep. Hammel) Fees for Fire Inspection Services, A bill to amend 1941 PA 207, entitled “Fire prevention code,” by amending section 2c (MCL 29.2c), as amended by 2006 PA 189.  The state fire services fund is created in the state treasury
  • HB 4029 of 2009, (Rep. Tim Moore) Revenue sharing, cities and villages; Revenue sharing, counties
  • HB 4062 of 2009 (Rep Lemmons) Repeals public service employment residency requirement
  • HB 4081 of 2009 (Rep. Knollenberg) Permits right to work zones.
  • HB 5154 of 2009 (Rep. Pearce) Income tax credit for the installation of smoke alarms in accordance with the Michigan Building Code.
  • HB 5320 of 2009 (Rep. Neumann) Creates new act for the maintenance of automatic sprinkler systems
  • HB 5337 of 2009 (Rep Proos), transfers the powers of the DEQ under PA 207 to the Department of Agriculture
  • SB 0020 of 2009 (Sen John Gleason), A security alarm system contractor shall not install bars on any window unless the bars come equipped with an inside-escape latch or other mechanism designed to allow a person to exit the window.
  • SB 0085 of 2009 (Sen Gretchen Whitmer), state fire marshal may disapprove the unrestricted sale of any novelty lighter if the state fire marshal determines that the device directly or indirectly may cause harm to the public health, safety, or welfare.
  • SB 109 of 2009 Cancer Presumption (Sen Garcia) provides cancer presumption for firefighters
  • SB 264, Fire Safe Cigarettes (Passed House and Senate), introduced by Tupac Hunter requires manufactures to make fire safe cigarettes.
