If you are looking to earn additional continuing education points and would like to take “refresher” courses through the NFPA classes we’re offering, you may now do so.
Each day you attend offers the opportunity to receive eight (8) continuing education points through the Bureau of Fire Services for the Certified Fire Inspector. These opportunities are limited, first-come first-serve based on classroom size.
When registering, you will need to identify the specific days in which you will attend. For CFI-I courses, you may select a maximum of four (4) days. For CFI-II and CFPE, you may select a maximum of two (2) days. A class roster will be presented during each class to obtain continuing education points for participation.
Classes meet 8:00am to 5:00pm each day, except for classes held at Schoolcraft College, which will be 9:00am to 5:00pm. Payment is required at least two weeks prior to the first date of the selected course.

MFIS is no longer offering written exams. NFPA offers a computer-based format for Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI-I), Certified Fire Plan Examiner (CFPE), and Certified Fire Inspector II (CFI-II) exams which are available at testing centers around the world.
Please review this brief tutorial for instructions about NFPA Certification and Testing
Please note: You must follow the instructions within the tutorial referenced above to be able to schedule an exam date. This requires that you login to the NFPA.org website to continue with the computer-based testing process. The Test Center link simply identifies available test sites and does not allow for scheduling an exam date without first logging in to NFPA.org.
Additionally, when searching for a testing site near you, the system only searches in two-week windows of time. For example, if you do not find availability between Feb. 1 and Feb. 14, try another two-week window, such as Feb. 14 to Feb. 28, etc.
PLEASE NOTE:
** PROCESSING TIMES ARE

PLEASE NOTE:
** PROCESSING TIMES ARE 2-3 WEEKS **
The preferred method of payment is credit card and instructions are included within each application. Should you find it necessary to process payment via check, please send the application and check to:
